step 3 for the runningboards

I know, i know, its been a while since my last update.
But here it is.
Last week we started with the dashboard. The instruments were taken out for repair.
For some reason the glass of the speedometer was broken.
A new glass was ordered and the the speedometer taken apart.
While were at it we drilled a hole in the meter plate and glued in a red light for the  High beam.
The front struts for holding the fender in place were mounted.
The wheel covers are mounted and the chrome rim.
A plate was made to mount the switch for the fog lights and its control light (orange). The red light is a waring light for the ignition. This way you are able to see if the key is switched on. When the motor is running it wil go out.
For the front hubs I made a new bearing cover on the lathe.
The old one was repaired so it would fit properly.
And finally the instruments are reinstalled. and all the control lights are working.
 As do the fog lights.
The hood catch was reinstalled and corrected so the hood will open and close correctly.
The emblem on the side of the hood is installed.
And the front rims and wheel covers are installed.
The car is now ready for its transport to the upholstery guy.
And that brings us to today. On the underside of the running boards there are brackets for installing them on the car. Today I cut the rail I bend earlier into the right size.
Then with a piece of aluminum I made a mold to drill and mill the holes for the screws. This mold also makes it possible to hold the rails in the drill press and on the mill.
Then all the pieces are drilled and milled.
And at last a piece of flat plate was made and tacked to the bottom of the rail. This will hold the bolt in plce when installing the running boards.
So that's it for today.
