Tail pipe and running board.

This week we did a few small things and a few big things.
We started with the sun visor.  Both mounts are altered and the parts are tacked together.
After one more fitting we welded all the parts firmly together with the Mig welder.
Then the welds were ground and the contour of the edge was grinded.
And then the parts are sanded with some 120 grid paper and prepered for the primer.
And then a thick coat of primer was applied.
The next day we sanded the parts and prepared them for the paint. And then we painted the parts.
The next day we took the parts and the location on the roof for the holes are marked. The holes in the roof were drilled  and the parts are mounted with 2 screws to the roof.
Now the edges are taped off  and the parts are removed.
We then applied some mounting kit at the location where the mounting plates touch the roof.
And then the brackets are mounted to the roof with all the screws. This way the kit is push away to the edges and we will have. This way I'm sure that the mounts are firmly in place and the roof is water proof.
The tape was then removed and with some seal and bond remover the exes of kit was removed. We now have a clean installation of the brackets. And let it cure until the next day.
So the next day we installed the sun visor and it is now in a position not touching the roof and give full visibility trough the windshield.
we are now able to install the antenna in place, mount the mirrors to the car and installed the foglights above the bumper.
To make sure the the foglights are working we had to make a additional wiring harness with a small relay mounted to the firewall. Together with the wiring harness for the foglights we tapped a wire from the alternator to install a ignition warning light in the dash.
The next day, because I do not have the switch and warning lights, I started making the exhaust tip. First I made a rectangle from some flat piece of stainless steel. Then a tube was reformed using my press and a forming tool I made.
Next all the pieces are welded togehter.
Then all the welds were ground in and outside. and the pipe was treated with some acid to remove the discoloration of the stainless.
Then a additional piece of pipe was measured and welded to the tip to get the tip at its correct location. After that the tip is polished to a shining finish.
And then the tip was welded to the exhaust under the car.
Because I had some time left I started on the runningboards of the car. At least the drivers side. The pieces I had made earlier are tacked together.
After that I made some additional pieces and tacked them also in place.
The drivers side running board is now ready to be welded. After that the mounting brackets can be made.
But that will be for an other day.
